15 Most Intimidating Police Cars

Most of the police cars we see every day are just cruisers - yes, they’re modified with better suspension, intakes, handcuff bolts and the like, but overall they’re built for fairly mundane purposes of keeping up a police presence, responding to disturbances, and hauling away criminals. But many police forces also maintain special pursuit groups for chasing down…er…”faster criminals”. Here are some photographs of high speed pursuit and promotional police cars from around the world. A worrying sight for any rear view mirror. Where possible I show the performance details for each one, or from the standard civilian model. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Sussex Police Lotus Exige (United Kingdom)
0-60mph in 4.1 seconds. Room for a truncheon and that’s about it. Possibly a pair of handcuffs.

Austrian Police Porsche 911 (Austria)
3.6 L twin turbo engine, making 300 kW. The Europeans, the Germans especially, seem to take their high speed law enforcement very seriously.

Dutch Spyker C8 Cabriolet (Holland)
4.2 litre V8 engine, producing 300 kW and a top speed of 300 km/h. First car in the world with droopy wide mirrors.

London Police Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 (United Kingdom)
6.5 Liter engine producing 640 bhp and 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. And molto spezza to fix. This looks like the Ace Cafe Garage, if I’m not mistaken.

Italian Polizia Stradale Lamborghini Gallardo (Italy)
5.0 L V10 engine, making 373 kW (500 bhp). Note how many officers it takes to make sure no one steals it. And even then clearly one of them is considering it.

That Corvette C5 is a Z06 so it would have either 385HP (2001) or 405HP (2002-2004)
