I absolutely love airplanes and flying. We did a lot of flying even when I was just a baby, and my father used to take me to the airport to watch planes take off and land. I love to travel and that means I get to see my fair share of airports, terminals, runways and airport lounges (In fact you could be viewing this in an airport lounge right now! if you are, leave a comment saying where you’re going). My favorite was always Hong Kong’s Kai Tak airport (Simon has some great photos here of that particular runway approach) - now what was an airport that didn’t help your fear of flying! That said, I’ve never heard of any major landing accidents at that airport.

Here are some photos of some amazing runways from all over the world. The last photograph in this series, right at the bottom, is of a Cathay Pacific 747 on approach to Kai Tak. Kai Tak closed in 1998, but it looks like these runways could give you a pretty white knuckle flight also!
