Things to Make with Beer Bottles Part 1

So maybe you like beer. Maybe you’re a Grolsch fan, or a Budweiser fan, or a Heineken fan. And I bet you have a lot of beer bottles lying around the house, right? But other than throwing them away, what can you build with them? Let’s face it, in this age of environmental sensitivity, everyone wants you to ‘go green’ with the recycling and the and the reusing. But brewing isn’t the only thing you can do with beer! I’m not here to give you any advice on beer making, however, but I can show you what others have done while you’re waiting for your brew to ferment. So here are some pictures of things YOU can build with lots of beer bottles. I hope you find these pictures helpful.

1. A Christmas tree

This one is pretty well known. And over here we have written some instructions on how you can build your own beer bottle christmas tree! Really, the possibilities are limited by your…er…beer bottles. These examples show what it can look like both with and without lights.

2. A beer bottle table

Not a good idea to put anything delicate on this (or if you do, put something down first that will catch all the glass if it breaks). Looks very delicate.

3. A beer bottle chandelier

This one is great if (a) you don’t have many bottles of just one type and (b) your wife/girlfriend likes beer bottle lighting arrangements. If you hang them just right, you can make some quite nice visual effects. I guess it would look good in a bar or a club of some kind…I guess.

4. A beer bottle water heater

This one is serious (and a bit clever). If you can attach the bottles securely enough to the roof, you can fill them with water, and then let the sun’s rays to heat the water. Hey presto! Inexpensive hot water for everyone! (Depending on how large your roof is and how many bottles you have). In a way it would be cool if you could build a beer cooler in the same way.

5. A beer house

This one puts a new slant on home beer brewing. You could try building your house with beer bottles. And this way, when you’re expecting a beer delivery, you can just tell them to look for the house made with beer bottles. Or similar. Anyway, you’d probably need planning permission for this though.

Update: Part 2 is over here.
